Looking for an used Airstream? Where to find them
Posted on 03/11/2013
Airstream travel trailers are classics, a recognizable shiny brand (here goes the “silver bullet” nickname) that even has been used by NASA to move their astronauts to the launch pads.
In February 2011 this manufacturer joined forces with the reputable Eddie Bauer and launched the Eddie Bauer Airstrem and even if new models are expensive there is hope for the rest of us to find one used on sale in the market but first learn about the models.
Being an old brand you will find many models out there and some classified as vintages. The Bambi is one of the ancestors with the first model built in 1929. The Basecamp, as the name suggests, will offer a packed basecamp for your next camping trip. Smaller models in the collection include the Airstream DWR and the Safari Sport in the versions 17 and 22.
If you are inclined for a more contemporary design check the Flying Cloud and for more space the Airstream Classic Limited Travel Trailer. If you camp with many extras (toys) the PanAmerica toy hauler may be interesting and also great look the International Signature Series and the Serenity Series. It’s interesting to note that Airstream also manufactures touring couches such as the Avenue and the Interstate.
For more general info about the Airstream RVs check Airstream Life, the Airstream Owners Association website and the Air Forum. Then, if you are ready to start looking for a used model on sale, there are many places to explore (starting for the listings published in the classified section of the forum). In the site Vintage Airstream Classifieds there are many models on sale and other places for the search are:
- The Fred’s Airstream Archives (this website offers a convenient list organized by models and years), and the popular
- Ebay and
If all these places are not enough a Google custom search will be your best bet.
